This July and August I rode over 2000 miles retracing Abraham Lincoln's inaugural train route from Springfield, Illinois to Washington D.C. My project titled, "Taking Measure Across America" involved photographing the American landscape and visually documenting the historic spaces. My intent among other things was to draw attention to the principles Lincoln advocated such as civil and human rights and the rule of law in a free society. Needless to say, my preparation was busy with mapping routes, reading history, and physically training. Gathering my equipment was made much easier once I installed my Brooks saddle. Having tested many road saddles, I was prepared for the worst when I installed my B17 the day before I left. I must admit that it needed no break in time for comfort! From day one I had no problems, even on one particularly long 11 hour day traversing northern Pennsylvania,- the B17 was not a concern. Having arrived in Washington D.C. 34 days after I began my journey, I have no regrets having ridden my Brooks!
